The demonstrator for the May meeting was Mrs. Margaret Earl from Winlaton Tyne and Wear. Margaret is an area demonstrator for the Northumberland and Durham area and her title for the evening was ‘Elegance’.
The evening began with a design for the epitome of elegance – the wedding which featured pink and white roses, carnations and eustoma, in a cone shape that represented the bouquet and a second placement for the bridesmaid.
Next Margaret showed the elegant simplicity of the hand tied bunch with red roses, carnations, and green shamrock chrysanthemums.
Inspiration for the next design came from the elegance of stately homes with a pedestal arrangement in an urn with calla lilies and roses in shades of orange and yellow.
The penultimate design was inspired by the Ascot scene from the film ‘My Fair Lady’. Decorative cane formed the outline representing a hat with aspidistra leaves, white carnations and lilies with black feathers adding the touch of elegance.
The central piece for the evening was a 2 placement arrangement in shades of lilac creating a perfect end to a night of elegance.
The vote of thanks was given by Lydia Lunnan-Wood.
