The December meeting took the form of a workshop at which we all made cones from Christmas material. On arrival, the ladies were greeted with a drink and nibbles as they enjoyed the floral displays on the theme of ‘Light’, which had been designed by club members. The displays were to give the members inspiration for the flower festival scheduled for June 2015 to be held in St. Giles church with title of ‘Light’.
The three displays, although under the same title, were very different in style and form. Lydia’s interpretation was entitled ‘Light of My Life’ in which she used red flowers and hearts to depicted love being the light of life. Muriel took her inspiration form celestial light, using a sun, moon, and star to enhance a two placement design using yellow roses in one and white roses in the other. Muriel spoke about her design and the theme of light and inspiration being all around us. The third design was entitle ‘The Golden Light of Dawn’ was a pedestal arrangement in shades of yellow flowers. The displays formed part of the raffle at the end of the evening.
For those who completed their workshop project there was a quiz on the theme of films, which caused great amusement. The evening was rounded off with tea and mince pies. Pictures show the completed project and some of the ladies hard at work.
