This was the final meeting of this session and the AGM after which we enjoyed a lovely demonstration from Ms. Julie Coulton entitled ‘Out of Town’.
Although she lives in Fife, Julie is an Essex girl and married to a gamekeeper, so she kept us entertained with stories of the life in various parts of the country. We started in Norfolk with an arrangement in a large teacup as the people from that area love a cup of ‘rosy-lee’. Julie used holodiscus foliage (which was something new for us) with ‘cupcake’ pink and white roses and white sticks to represent the steam.
The next container was a rescued milk churn in which was displayed a design to represent over flowing milk using white gypsophila, chrysanthemums and stock.
As Julie told the story of counting ducks with her husband at sunset she created a sunset arrangement with horizontal bulrushes, fatsia leaves and elaeagnus to off set orange lilies and roses with purple eustoma.
The fourth display was on a 2 placement stand using holodiscus, leucadendron and heuchera with green orchids.
For the final creation, Julie used a large black bowl enthralling her audience with a stunning display of fatsias, palms, erica, carnations gerbera and anthuriums.
The vote of thanks was given by Elizabeth Harvey and members were reminded that the new session begins on 13th September 2016.
