October 2016 Meeting

Kath Gibson Tuesday 11th October 2016

The title for the evening was ‘Around the World’.

We began with the ice caps, which were depicted in a round silver bowl with gray/green foliage white liatris in the centre surrounded by white lilies, carnations and gypsophila. To complete the design, there was a second placement and a polar bear.

From the ice caps we were whisked off to the Great Barrier Reef. For this, Kath used a blue glass container with mixed foliage, eryngiums, leucadendrons yellow gerbera and lotus seed heads.

Next stop Hawaii: a 2 placement stand was used with long red flax to represent the flame of the volcanoes which formed the islands, with red roses, carnations, and alstroemeria.

From fire we were transported to the desert. This was in the style of a picture design with mixed foliage sandy coloured single chrysanthemums, yellow roses, and yellow/bronze spray chrysanthemums.

Finally, we visited the rain forests. Kath used a tall container with a variety of lush foliage including palms that Kath had platted, all set off with red ginger plant and mixed anthuriums.

The vote of thanks was given by Sandra Halkett
